Mokshada Ekadashi Puja for Bhagwan Vishnu

On Mokshada Ekadashi, devotees observe a series of sacred rituals to honour Bhagwan Vishnu and Shri Krishna, embodying devotion and discipline. Fasting is a key practice, beginning at sunrise and continuing until the following day’s sunrise. During this time, devotees abstain from grains, beans, and other restricted foods, while some consume fruits, nuts, or milk-based products. This fast is undertaken with utmost purity and dedication, reflecting a commitment to spiritual growth. Worship on this day centers on both Bhagwan Vishnu and Shri Krishna, with special prayers and pujas seeking their blessings for liberation and inner peace.

A significant highlight of the day is the recitation of the Bhagavad Gita, a practice that brings divine blessings and spiritual clarity. While devotees strive to recite all 18 chapters, at least 11 chapters are traditionally read. Many also visit temples dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu or Krishna, immersing themselves in the sacred ambiance of collective prayer and enlightenment. Charity plays a vital role in the observance, as offering food, clothing, or financial assistance to those in need amplifies the spiritual merits of the day, embodying the essence of compassion and selflessness. Below is a detailed description of the seva that can be performed on this auspicious day:

• Maha Abhisheka & Sarvalankara Seva: This sacred seva begins with the Panchamrutha and Dhravya Abhisheka rituals, followed by the Sarvalankara Seva, where fresh flowers, special garlands, and precious jewellery adorn Bhagwan Vishnu, Sridevi, and BhuDevi. The Panchamrutha - a blend of milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and sugar - symbolizes purity, prosperity, strength, and bliss, enriching devotees’ lives. The Dhravyabhisheka with offerings like coconut, sandalwood paste, and turmeric purifies the mind, while the fragrant flowers and Tulasi garlands bring blessings of health, wealth, and spiritual growth.
• Ashtottararchane & Maha Mangalarti Seva: In this revered ritual, 108 names of Bhagwan Vishnu are recited with offerings of flowers and leaves, invoking the deity's divine presence and blessings. The Ashtottara Shatanamavali praises Vishnu in various forms, each name representing a divine attribute. The Maha Mangalarti follows, where lighted lamps are offered with hymns, creating a spiritual connection between the devotee and the divine. This ritual purifies the environment, fosters peace, and symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, bringing spiritual upliftment and joy.
• Vishnu Mantra Jaap / Japa: The Vishnu Mantra Jaap performed on Ekadashi offers immense spiritual benefits, including peace, prosperity, and divine blessings from Shri Vishnu. Devotees can either perform the Jaap themselves or avail the services of JyotirGamaya to have Vedic Pandits perform it on their behalf. The following powerful mantras will be chanted 108 times by the Pandits to invoke Shri Vishnu’s blessings:
